On April 20th 2007 the last issue of LIFE Magazine hit the stands, just weeks after Time had announced that it would stop printing the magazine. The good news is that Time also announced that LIFE's collection of 10 million images will be made available online through Google Image Search.
According to Google, the collection of newly-digitized images includes photos produced and owned by LIFE dating back to the 1750s, some of them never-before-seen images from the LIFE photo archive but also iconic images known from the magazine.

According to us, this is truly amazing and an endless source of inspiration! The present online collection is breathtaking and has kept us here at 15m occupied for hours with it's historic and beautiful imagery.
Currently the first part of the images are available. About 2 million historic Life images are hosted on a section of Google Images, where you can browse by year, place, people, events or (of course) search.

Add "source:life" to any Google image search and search only the LIFE photo archive. For example: moon source:life
